Western Carolina vs South Florida College Football Preview

The Western Carolina Catamounts will have to face the South Florida Bulls in their opening game at Raymond James Stadium. Both teams will be excited to play each other with the prospect that at least one of them will be halfway to matching their previous seasons total wins. The FCS Western Carolina Catamounts won two games last year including their opening game loss to Middle Tennessee. South Florida is in the FBS, but they rank at the bottom of the FBS and they didn’t win until their mid-season matchups. The Bulls will need to be prepared to take a lead and keep the lead in order to avoid embarrassment in this game.

Keys for Western Carolina Catamounts:

  • Troy Mitchel returns at QB for the Catamounts, last season he had 12 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Troy will need to find better reads and avoid throwing so many interceptions if he is to find success.
  • Darius Ramsey also returns with some experience under his belt. Ramsey had 565 yards rushing and four touchdowns. Ramsey will need oto light it up if Western Carolina stands a chance.

Keys for the South Florida Bulls:

  • Don’t screw this up; this win has practically been handed to you. The team the bulls are playing only managed two wins against mostly FCS opponents. Surely the Bulls will win this game.
  • The Bulls have their star wide receiver coming back for his senior season. Andre Davis has 1542 yards and 10 touchdowns on his career with the Bulls.

NO KEY INJURIES TO DATE

Favorite/Odds: South Florida by 22 points

The South Florida Bulls will come into this game with confidence, or they should come into this game with confidence. As long as the Bulls are confident they will surely prevail. If they have any doubt, then there is always a chance for teams like Western Carolina to sneak in a miracle.
